A Garment Collaboration between Jasmine Hearn and Athena Kokoronis of Domestic Performance Agency that has been recently awarded the Cynthia Hazen Polsky and Leon Polsky Rome Prize.
Our making comes from the provisional, the refused, heirlooms or found jackets passed-down from folx who mother to performer. We are part of a repurposing culture applying somatic practice through dance, allowing the research to define our holistic approach to design. Repertory Closet holds garments built to serve performers and choreography that are built to hold the artists. Vessels with vessels. The choreographies are based on scores where actions can be repeated, and the performance is never repeatable. Performing that happens over and over again– a practice.
This is a collaborative ecology, flexible to allow improvisation and interpretation, and durable–a collapsable sanctuary to perform, process and dance in.
